1/6/2016 0 Comments AP Final ExamWith the art criticism process you need to be in detail. First off, you need to say what's right in front of you. Reveal all the elements, even what material they used. Secondly, you need to analyze the piece, explaining the node of the painting, how all the shapes fit together as a whole. Thirdly, you should interpret the work. Decide what the artist is trying to get across. Why did they do that piece. Lastly, decide wether or not you like the piece, explain why. Tell the artist the pros and cons of the piece. Then you can tell if the artist is successful. Critique for this ^ i picked this morph because i imagined what it would be like to be an adult, and with an adult i imagined a business man that is miserable in his everyday job. sadly, lots of people go to a job they hate. i wanted to show that every adult has their inner child just a lot don't show it. this relates to me because i remember my mother telling me about her job before she became a teacher, she was working at Mejier as some sort of computer person. she was so miserable. I did a portrait of Lucky. I love this dog so much. Lucky was a dark dog so I made things more difficult. I started out using grayish with the first layer of oil pastel. But before that with the sketching I used boxes to get down proportions, that way there won't be giant ears and a tiny head. He had a smooth coat so pressing down harder and repeating straight lines gave it a smooth texture. Of course in some places lucky was darker than others due to shadows and just his coat in general. I would think Lucky is more of realistic piece than anything else. The background doesn't work great with Lucky's dark color. I would change the background to lighter colors in order to contrast with all the darkness. This piece was made because of my love for this sweet dog. Shading was done well in this piece you can see all the values, all the shadows that help make this good art, a more realistic art piece. 3 QUESTIONS: 1. Art is when someone expresses them in another way that is not writing. Some people are better with pictures than words. Art can be full of cold or warm colors making it happy or sad piece. 3. Plagiarism is impossible to avoid. At one point your art piece is going to be similar to another's. But some say the graetest artist steals. There is absolutely a gray area. Art is deinerly replicated but at least people put their own spin on it. 9. Illustration Fridays helped with my creativity levels overall before this class I would not give it much thought and would do the obvious ( like if the word was flower I would just draw a simple flower) now I am more creative with my thinking. I am definetly improved on sketching, having to sketch more than I ever have really helped with my drawing abilities.
